From Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

Take Harbor Dr. to Pacific Coast Highway North to Interstate 8 East to Interstate 15 North, to Highway 215 North, to Highway 60 East, to Interstate 10 East, exit at Highway 111 to Palm Springs. (Approximately 140 miles.)

We've got two stops, one for the Sunset Limited up by I-10; the second ("Amtrak's Bakersfield to Indio (Jackson St. and Southern Pacific Tracks Daily service with stops in Palm Springs, N. Indian Canyon and Amado and Palm Desert Town Center, Monterey and San Gorgonio. 1-800-USA-RAIL (872-7245) actually is motor coach service to/from Amtrak's San Joaquin route in Bakersfield, and stops at Palm Springs International Airport. Recent revisions to the Sunset's schedule make one day trips to Los Angeles possible. The daily service to/from Bakersfield allows for trips to northern and Central California without having to drive through Los Angeles
